Strengthen Trees and Shrubs
Fertilizing plants is a great way to provide them with fuel and reduce their likelihood of becoming damaged. It is hard to find a happy medium with fertilizing in our area because most plants require different kinds of soils. The most common soil type encountered in the Knoxville and surrounding areas is red clay. Clay is great for absorbing nutrients but can bind them so tightly the plant roots have a hard time picking up the nutrients. A method to decrease this issue is the use of mulch as a fertilizer for clay soils. It allows more oxygen to access the roots, and makes soil nutrients more available. Sometimes, this method can be harmful to plants. We can show you how to mulch your trees and soils to reduce the need for fertilizers, pesticides, and fungicides. This will keep your plants healthier in the long run.
Our highly trained PHC scientist will integrate scouting and soil testing to determine what techniques will be best for encouraging healthy growth. Using these evaluation methods will provide a unique approach to managing issues harmful to your landscape environment.
